  • Is this a real late 80's Dinky?`

Y'all, do you think this one is real? The things that make me think not are (in order of importance):
    • 00 before the serial
    • No "Made In USA" on headstock
    • Silver hardware (could be replacement?)
    • Rosewood board
Of course if real, this is an absurd deal, so thoughts? As always, thanks in advance!

also is the body shape even right for 80's?

      Looks like a mutt.

The body, chrome hardware, pickups, and neckplate are from a DR2. https://guitarinside.com/Jackson_Dinky_DR2

The neck is likely a neck from a 2000s Japan RR3. https://guitarinside.com/Jackson_RR3 There weren't many models from the era that had the combination of no binding, 22 frets, rosewood fretboards, and plastic sharkfin inlays so I immediately think of the RR3.

Given the DR2 and RR3 are both 22-fret guitars, this mutt should intonate just fine.

The tuners are not original to that Japanese neck. Not sure why there's that sticker on the back of the headstock, nor why Dave Mustaine's autograph is there either.

No it's not real in the sense of being a DR2. It is a real guitar of some sorts, mutt made or just a dinky of unknown origin.
By the way if the body is a DR2 there is something weird by the neck plate its cut out to fit? I don't think 600 would be that absurd of a deal. Last one I saw sell on here was for like 475.

I know the old saying that the value of an opinion is generally inversely proportional to the strength with which it is held.

No, but it wouldn't be either way.

That sticker serial is identical to the ones used on mid-'90s Taiwanese made Jacksons.
I can't imagine why someone would put it on there, though I can't say it doesn't belong there, either.

            Unless that's a model I've never seen, I'm guessing it's a mutt. Neck added to a body.
            96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

basically, you can buy it and get a decent guitar at a decent price.
but you aren't getting a fantastic guitar at a steal of a price.

I don't know what the fuck is the matter with people. I would not buy a mutt like that one for 600. thinking I was getting a decent deal. you can buy a Jackson star with an ebony fretboard neck through for six hundred on fleabay.

hey so agreed with you and question on that: why do japanese guitars on ebay often have multiple listings for the same one? like is this in any way legit? bc I've been thinking about buying one but dissuaded by the seeming shadiness.

                      like, example:

I was so pissed that I bought that Pro MII after seeing this guys guitars. I would've bought the one he had for 615 or best offer thats basically a PRO soloist of the 90's era
those two do have the same serial number, the one i was looking at didn't he has 99% positive feedback, thats pretty good all things consider, they are in japan and the covid shit.
